Apprenticeship

If you are interested in learning to become an electrician, you can join one of several apprenticeship programs offered jointly by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association. No background in electrical work is required. A minimum age of 18 is required. Men and women are equally invited to participate. The organization in charge of the program is called the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC).

As an apprentice with Cherry City, you have the opportunity to “earn while you learn” on the job. You are paid good wages and will receive wage increases as you progress with your training. Working under the supervision of a journeyman, you will learn the trade in the shop and on the job site.

The apprenticeship program consists of five years of classroom related study. Each apprentice attends a minimum of 160 hours of schooling each of the five years of the apprenticeship. The classes are held at the NJATC’s facilities. The classroom related study, coupled with at least 8,000 on the job training hours, is a time proven method of graduating a skilled and competent journeyman level Electrician.  Contact the local IBEW office in your area today to get started.
